Corundum
Characteristics of white corundum
White corundum is crystallized by electrofusion refining, with high purity, good self-sharpening, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and stable thermal properties. White corundum is slightly harder than brown corundum, slightly lower toughness, high purity, good self-sharpening, strong grinding ability, low heat generation, high efficiency, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, good thermal stability at high temperature.
Scope of application of white corundum
White corundum is suitable for the manufacture of ceramic, resin cemented abrasives and grinding, polishing, sandblasting, precision casting (fine casting special corundum), etc. It can also be used for the manufacture of advanced refractory materials. It is suitable for all kinds of high-end products, crafts or hardware and other products surface beautification treatment, after sandblasting the surface is white without any impurities, eliminating the trouble of cleaning. Fine white corundum can be used as the first of polishing and grinding.
Properties of brown corundum
In the process of application, it has the characteristics of no explosion, no pulverization and no cracking, especially its cost performance is much higher than traditional brown corundum, which makes it the aggregate and filler of brown corundum refractory materials.
The scope of application of brown corundum
Brown corundum grit is made of artificially selected brown corundum blocks, processed by roller, ball mill, Barmac and other equipment, the grit size is F8-F325, mainly used for polishing, grinding, industrial grinding, etc., but also according to customer requirements for water washing, acid washing treatment and other methods of processing, to meet the different needs of customers.
Difference between brown corundum and white corundum:
1. Different raw materials: the raw material of brown corundum is bauxite, in addition to anthracite coal and iron Xiao. And the raw material of white corundum is alumina powder.
2. Different uses: Brown corundum can be used to make ceramics, resin high solidification abrasives and grinding, polishing, sandblasting, precision casting, etc. It can also be used to make high grade refractory materials. White corundum is suitable for grinding high-carbon steel, high-speed steel and stainless steel and other fine-grained abrasives, white corundum can also be used for precision casting and advanced refractory materials.
3. Different performance: brown corundum has high purity, good crystallization, strong fluidity, low coefficient of linear expansion and corrosion resistance. White corundum has the characteristics of high purity, good self-sharpening, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and stable thermal state performance. Comparatively speaking, the hardness of white corundum is higher than brown corundum.
4. Different composition: Although brown corundum and white corundum both contain alumina, but the alumina content of white corundum is above 99%, and the alumina content of brown corundum is about 95%.
5. Different color: Because the content of alumina of white corundum is higher than that of brown corundum, so the color of white corundum is white and brown corundum is brown-black.
6. Different production: white corundum is produced by alumina powder (and electrolytic aluminum with the same raw materials), while brown corundum is produced by calcined bauxite.
7. Different objects: white corundum is used by some high-end users, because it is better cutting strength, polishing effect is also very good, mostly used for carbon steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, hard bronze, etc., while brown corundum is commonly used in the market, but also a large amount of the market, mostly used for tempered steel, high-speed steel, high carbon steel, etc..
White corundum has strong cutting power and is used to remove metal or non-metal burrs, pre-batch burrs and so on. It has the function of polishing the surface of parts and is a medium polishing abrasive. Brown corundum is used for deburring the surface of hardware parts such as stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum alloy, etc. The grinding of brown corundum is not as fine and bright as white corundum.
